My Review of the Aztec Secret Indian Healing Clay Mask

Amanda is a Sophomore at Syracuse University who has been fighting acne for a long time, and loves to try out new skincare products.

The Masks Origin

Not only is this mask very effective, but it's also inexpensive. The price ranges around $8-$13, depending on where you buy it, but for a good face mask that is pretty cheap. Amazon sells this mask for about $9.

It is an all natural powder clay, made of 100% calcium bentonite. Calcium bentonite is a type of dry, absorbent clay that forms from old volcanic ash. Bentonite clay has been found to remove bodily toxins upon application by absorbing them. It sucks up things like dirt and oil and hardens on your skin. Bentonite is a common ingredient in spa/skincare products because of its beneficial effects.

The Product

Calcium bentonite is a great cosmetic/skincare product. Thousands of people have claimed that the calcium bentonite Indian Healing Clay mask has helped improve their skin in numerous ways.

This mask is mainly used by people with chronic acne or clogged pores, but it has plenty of other uses as well. Many people have claimed that this mask has healed old scars, stopped their acne, and even gotten rid of dark under eye circles.

This mask is great for any type of skin, whether it be sensitive, dry, oily, or combination. When making your mask, you can customize the recipe to fit your skin better. Since it comes in powder form, you have to mix it separately in a bowl.

The container's directions indicate that it should be mixed in a non metal bowl with a non metal utensil. Additionally, it should be mixed with either apple cider vinegar or water. If your skin is more on the sensitive side, it is probably best to use water. Using apple cider vinegar on sensitive skin is probably not the best idea, since it is very acidic and could damage your skin.

The Application

  • Once your mask is mixed and ready, you can apply it with your fingers or a brush.
  • Apply it to your problem areas.
  • Leave it on for 5-10 minutes for sensitive skin, and 10-20 minutes for non sensitive skin. It will get tight, but that's normal!
  • Once time's up, remove the mask with warm water and a washcloth.
  • Pat your face dry.
  • Apply moisturizer or a face serum to replenish your natural oils.

The clay absorbs traces of dirt and oil and other particles as it dries, sucking it all away from your skin. Applying moisturizer afterwards is very important because this mask dries out your skin to the extreme. Be sure to keep your skin's thirst quenched!

A Great Face Mask

Many people, including myself, have tried this face mask and had great experiences with it. Personally, I have been using it for a little over a month (at least 2x per week). Ever since I was a preteen, I have had pretty consistent acne. At all times, I will at least have two pimples on my face. Not to mention I have many hyper pigmented acne scars from old pimples.

However after using this face mask, I have seen small improvements in my skin. My acne scars have gotten lighter in color and less visible over all, and I have found that there are a lot less pimples appearing on my face. Also, my blackheads and clogged pores have somewhat cleared up, and the appearance of my skin has improved. It looks clearer and healthier, much to my relief.

Overall I'd say that this face mask is a wonderful product, and I would recommend it to anyone who is having trouble with their skin!
