A Review of the Genie Bra: The Good, the Bad, and the Facts

A nonconformist by nature, my passions are family, pets, social and environmental issues. It's critical to me that my bra fits well.

My Review of the Genie Bra

My Review of the Genie Bra

Infomercials claiming "The Miracle, Best Ever, Genie Bra!" have aired on several TV networks, and this bra has caused quite an upstir amongst women. Some consider it the best bra ever and others say it's nothing less than a horrible scam targeting unsuspecting women everywhere.

Who's right? I went online to order this miracle, test it, and let you all know what I think. Read on to see my review of the Genie Bra and the process of acquiring it.

The Infomercial for the Genie Bra: Accurate or Full of Hype?

The infomercial for the Genie Bra begins with scenes of several women struggling with obviously poor-fitting bras. The narrator says "you just know that most bras were invented by men," and introduces the show host, Jane Denoble, who looks pretty good in her blue dress (under which she claims to be wearing a Genie Bra). Ms. Denoble then introduces Stella Riches, a "fashion trend launcher" who tells us that the woven extra support comfort band means the bottom band won't roll up. She also assures us that the Everlast stretch fabric is intricately woven so that it moves with your body. It also provides support, eliminates top bulge, underarm spillage, back fat, and other concerns about ill-fitting cup sizes. They also tell us that if a woman wears a size small shirt, she'd wear a small Genie Bra (and a size medium shirt equals a medium Genie Bra, etc.)

Wow! this does sound like a miracle bra, and each of the various models looks great in their new bras. The infomercial offers six bras for the price of three.

I Initiated My Purchase

After checking what few reviews I could find, I went online to order the bra. I was then met with my first delay: The site didn't recognize my zip code. Okay, probably best to call them anyway, since I wanted to accommodate 36DDD (E girls!), and though the infomercial continuously emphasized this custom-conforming bra is for women of all sizes and showed a few 36/38DD girls, they did not specify any E girls. They also did not show an actual size chart on the broadcast. I thought it was in my best interest to ask a real person about the size.

The representative was very kind and a great salesperson. She said that size large would be perfect for 36E girls, so I proceeded with the order. She also sold me three of the lace-trimmed bras. She told me that my order should arrive within 2 to 3 weeks, and sent an order verification to our email.

And It Took Forever

I waited, and waited, and tracked, and waited, and then got nervous and checked the reviews again. After reading more recent reviews, a cloud of buyers remorse settled in like a dark storm cloud. Everyone's orders were apparently delayed. Then on May 18th, another email arrived, stating that the order had shipped.

My Genie Bra Experience: Slow Shipping, Poor Sizing, and Extra Items on Invoice

That's odd. A charge for pads? There was no mention of pads in the infomercial, though I saw reviews that mentioned pads and asked similar questions: What were the pads for and how did they end up on my order?

Finally, after another 10 days, the miracle Genie Bras finally arrived on May 28th, about two months after I ordered them. Am I wrong in thinking the pony express would have been faster? Am I wrong in thinking that for a high cost of shipping, the package should have arrived faster than 10 days? Am I wrong in wondering why it took more than seven weeks to toss three pre-packaged bra sets into another bag?

I Finally Received My Bras

Skeptically, I open the package, and inside the Tyvek envelope are three separate sets of three bras, three each, in white, black, and nude, one set lace-trimmed. Then I pull out a rather nice-looking white bra that does look like the ones seen in the TV ad. Yep, there are little pads hidden within tiny pockets that open to the side of each cup, and again I wonder why these pads weren't mentioned in the ad, but they do seem to add shape.

Product Inconsistencies

Having taped the infomercials, I watched it again: Nope, no mention of any pads, and somehow, the bras don't look exactly the same, either. The straps and band appear wider in the infomercial, and these cups look small, but let's see if they can accommodate the girls. Immediately, the E-girls are struggling to find space within the cups, and the thin fabric reveals the reason for the pads: Whoa! Everything shows through, especially on the white bra, and yes, these little pads definitely add a lot of shape. I began to wonder if XL might have been a wiser choice, but no, the straps on this bra are a bit loose actually, so XL would be too big. Darn! We're also noting a slight uni-boob look going on—ugh!—and some underarm spillage too, but the back is smooth. Okay, time to put a shirt on and see how it looks under my tops.

Genie Bra Size Chart

Genie Bra Size Chart

My Final Opinion on the Genie Bra

All in all, the Genie bra isn't as bad as I thought it would be.

My Overall Assessment of the Genie Bra

The Genie Bra is not uncomfortable, but there's a little too much jiggle to do anything but go to work or walk around in it. We definitely won't be exercising, speed walking, or running in these bras! What to do, what to do?

One way to minimize the excessive jiggle is by putting another bra on over the first one. It helps to also take the pad out of the inner Genie Bra, and leave the pad inside the outer Genie Bra. It looks and feels a little better. Pull the inner bra up in front a bit to avoid front and side spillover if it feels a bit tight. It should still be smooth in back. Wearing two Genie bras definitely provides more support.

The bottom line: I think this just might be a "miracle bra" for girls that wear bra sizes up to 36D, and maybe even DDs. No miracles here for the bigger girls. You'll need to wear two bras at once if you want any support. Wearing one bra is really only good for casual sleep.

As far as the Genie Bra claims, on a scale of 1-10, here are the marks:

For comfort, the Genie Bra rates a 9.

For support, the Genie Bra rates a 3 or 4. Just not enough lift!

For style, the Genie Bra rates a 6 or 7. Not bad-looking, but there's lots of room for improvement.

Questions & Answers

Question: Should I take the padding out of my Genie bras before I wash them?

Answer: I don't believe that is necessary, especially since these should be laundered by hand or delicate cycle.

Denise on August 25, 2020:

I purchased 2 orders of the TLC bras in 2 different sizes with the same cup size - 1 was too big, the other too small and extremely difficult to put on. The bra was not supportive even though I adjusted the shoulder straps. The fabric beneath the bra that's supposed to hug around your upper torso kept bunching up under my breasts.Thought the whole idea was to be comfortable and supportive?? Returned both orders for refund. Very disappointing! I don't think these are appropriate for those of us with larger breasts even though the cup sizes are available. The models in the infomercial did not seem to be full busted.

Laura on August 15, 2020:

These have no support, I’d like to hear reviews on the new tlc bra, not the old ones, I bought some bras from true and they are amazingly comfortable so I don’t want to buy more genies until I hear the reviews on the new tlc, thankyou in advance

Marsha on August 12, 2020:

I don't think you got the original Genie Bra. I have had ones like you describe and did not like. However, The Genie Bra TLC is great! It does not have removable pads. It has something that I would call an inside bra, It has adjustable straps that run inside the straps you see. They stay in place unlike the removable ones. The band stays in place. The only issue I have is when I put it on, I have to tug and sorta unroll the back. Once in place, it is very comfortable.

Nocgirl on August 08, 2020:

Thx for this review I’ve been watching the infomercial in the nail salon I will pass on these bras after your review the super long shipping time and extra charges don’t excite me

Diane, NY on August 06, 2020:

So I bought 6 of the original genie bras ($9.99) years ago, they really didn't fit as I was to big busted, so I gave them to my daughter. They were best for sleeping and not much else. I then purchased the Perfect form which I also use for sleeping but I can get away with running a quick errand with a Big tee shirt on, but nothing fitted. What has happened to the Perfect Form I don't know. I brought 2 at the time for 24.99. When I go to the site they aren't listed.

Lila on August 04, 2020:

I was sized as a 30 J. Since then I’m about 20 pounds heavier. Guessing I’m a 32 or 34 K by now. Thank you for the heads up!!!

Char on August 03, 2020:

It took forever to get them they have absolutely no courtesy they were out of stock and you have no clue they do not send a email letting you know!!!

Here is the BEST PART THEY ROLL NOT VERY COMFORTABLE. I threw them out after believing them. I spent $108 I threw them out because I realized that if they didn't let you know they were out of stock they're not going to give you back your money. I'll go back to the wire bras.

Kay Vincent on August 01, 2020:

I was pretty excited about ordering the Genie TLC advertised on TV. The order took a little longer than expected, but I did finally receive. The bras I received were not what I ordered. The video plainly showed an under bra with separate straps, not small pads installed into a much larger section of double fabric. Therefore, the pads slip around freely. I ordered the 3-pack, plus one lace bra. I received all lace bras. The sizing was fine, the bra was comfortable enough, but I've had a few similar to these and the are not worth the $25.00 that they ended up costing me. I can buy them for much less. But, I'm looking a much more secure pad.

Thelma on July 28, 2020:

I don't believe the bra is true to size, because my regular size is 38DD. I will return the 38 DD/DDD for a larger cup size if available and a larger band size because it rolls up.The pads could be larger for more breast coverage and support. Hopefully it comes in larger than DD/DDD

Kimberly White on July 20, 2020:

I wear a 42-DDD or 42-E when available. I bought several different sizes but finally the XXL was the best fit. When I first put it on it fits pretty good but the longer I wear it the lower my breasts fall. (To my waist). I can only wear them as sleep bras and around the house. I could never go in public with them. They are quite comfortable but little to no support after wearing them for a while. I was really hoping that this would be my miracle bra but the search goes on.

Bf19703 on July 16, 2020:

If you have a longer torso, the bra sits too high and there is no way to adjust strap length. All you can do is keep tugging it back into position.

ordered on March 4, took till June 18 to get on July 05, 2020:

The size way too small, the "pads" about size of inside part of palm looks more like a pad to cover nipple leakage for new mothers. I got XL (am size 42 c) is way, way, too small, no coverage for back fat or love handles. Absolutely no support. Looks like if I put in washer, I would get rags out at end. Was buy 2 get 1 free, got two after 4 MONTHS, haven't seen # 3, gave to a smaller person, told her if doesn't fit, throw them in garbage. Cost is excessive. Material is very thin.

Cynthia on May 16, 2020:

I was looking forward to trying this "great product " bought one today. And im NOT impressed at all . No support. I feel like im wearing a tube top with straps. Will not recommend this product to anyone i know.

Patricia Collins on May 11, 2020:

I ordered my 2nd set may 3rd I got them today last time I got xl and it was small but I wore them anyway . This time I got 2 x and it’s covers my breast good . I will probably order more they are very comfortable. I am

Patricia Collins on May 08, 2020:

I’m a double d and it was too small and not enough support it’s not for big girls I kept asking the man on the phone what size should I get that I’m a big woman with dad n sometimes according to the bra a triple d He insisted on me getting a extra large and it was too small it’s a fight to get in it and the pad after being stretched out looks like a nipple cover It is very comfortable So I have recently decided to try again with ordering the 2x We will see how it goes

Diane on May 03, 2020:

i ordered 40ddd jan 19 2020 still haven received constantly told 2 moe werks well just receive a postcard from them on may 1 2020 says if we dont hear from you within 30 days your order will be cancelled march i got a post card said march 13th ill be receiving my order i have called several times and always a different answer and of course now its due to the pandemis ummm i ordered in january. Ill never ever order from them again. When i ordered the operator said within 2 weeks id be receiving mh order. Id rather pay mire money for my bras than deal with thdir lies.

Diane Cole on April 19, 2020:

The removable pads are a great nusance. After they come out of the washer I always have to put the bra and pads back together. I'm wasting time sewing the pad opening closed and tacking the pads in place. I've already purchased the bras and I'm attempting to make them easy to maintain. Please offer the bras with the option of the pads being sewn in place. I don't have time to wash them separately.

Teri on February 07, 2020:

I ordered out of a catalog some months ago. I wear 48DDD so I ended up with 4x according to the chart. 3 for about $40.00 I guess. They fit great but the pads do shift and the straps start to slip at times. I’ve found that hand washing is best. The pads especially. My issue are the pads there are like three layers the middle being the cushion the outer layers start to peel away after awhile. Hand washing does keep the bras soft and not shrink, Woolite or baby laundry soap is best. If you must machine wash a free and clear soap or Woolite is best,NO softener ever or washing after washing loads with bleach. And use delicates bag warm or cool wash.

I would recommend reading other Genie Bras reviews before making up your mind to buy them.

the ones with actual straps are very good. the others with just the material wide straps are no good

Marlene Zuercher on September 05, 2018:

I have 6 of these bras. At first, I thought about returning them and then I noticed you actually step into them. I took the pads out and they fit great! I ordered a Large - normally wear 38 D or DD and these hold me up and stay comfortable all day long. I was going to order more as I've been wearing these about 2 years. I machine wash them in cold water and hang them on hangers to dry and then fold them and put them in a dresser drawer and these are the only bras I wear. Oh, I am 81 years old and still have shape and very little sag. Cannot pass the "pencil test" any more but can go braless around home and not become embarrassed if someone comes over.

Pat on August 16, 2018:

Bad bra, good only to sleep in! Would never recommend it!

Jennifer Ann on June 03, 2018:

Does anyone know you are not supposed to put these bras on over your head? You step into them & pull them up! Also, if you looked around the site and read you would know that they have different bras that have different purposes (I.e. sports bra.) You can’t blame them because you purchased the wrong size, I’ve never had a problem with things not fitting me but I’ve always made sure I ordered the right size!

Linda Fostano on March 20, 2018:

Waiting for product to arrive and after a week or so got an email stating that they were on back order. Still2 weeks later got an email saying the order was cancelled. Yes $59.95 ended up to over $80.00 . Now a cancellation, what’s up with this product, they offer 10% discount for canceling the order on another order, yes like I want to do this again. Not

Rose Marie on February 14, 2018:

I place an order by phone last week, still no email confirmation. I called and there was no record of my order. After reading the above review, I don't think I will reorder. Also, the people on the phone had very heavy accents, there was much noise in the background (both times) and I don't know if this is a company I can trust to have my credit card info on file.

Shirley Dasch on January 09, 2018:

I ordered 3 bars, 4 pairs of leggings.

2 pairs of pants size L/XL, could not pull up over my calf's, the bars are cut way to small, there size chart does not match the size. Everything is cut way to small.

Save your money, buy platex or just my size. Very disappointed. ..

Linda on December 27, 2017:

My husband noticed that i was having trouble with the bras that i had been wearing...they were too small he said. All i noticed was they were getting tight on me...so on a whem my husband bought me a.(Bamboo Bra ) and im telling you now that this is the BEST BRA I'VE EVER WORN ( hands down ) So ladies go to your nearest Wal-Mart ( this is where he purchased mine ) and you will absolutely Love Love Love it...they have a great lift and no bulging just a great fit...i just thought I would share my story with thr woman that cant find a good fitting bra ....this bra is very comfortable and one last thing...im very happy my husband thought enough of my breats that he took it upon himself to make me comfortable ....i lnew i loved him but this is thoughtful and it makes me love him more ...but im sure he had bis own agenda...LOL

Genny on October 22, 2017:

After I struggled to get the thing on, the band immediately rolled up. My boobs were smashed nearly flat in my XL Genie Bra (I am a 38C- size 14-16 shirt), according to sizing, I should have been able to wear a Large. I was so tired by the time I got this bra on, that I cut it off!! There is NO support. The sizing is totally wrong. I had spillage on the sides and back fat spillage. This bra, in my opinion, gets a negative 1. Worst Bra Ever!!!!

Ava on September 25, 2017:

I bought mine at Walmart. Double D here and sick of the underwire pain so thought I would try something that would be more comfortable. Sadly uniboob city. Doesn't really lift and separate but it is very comfortable. I bought the large and still a pretty tight fit. I will wear but won't buy more

Darla money on July 30, 2017:

Having had breast cancer, and after a mastectomy, and reconstruction, the genie bra,is a miracle for me.It was the only thing I could find that made me look normal.A life changer for me.It would be nice,if they were a bit cheaper.

Esther Balch on June 23, 2017:

If I had a doll I doubt if it would it. I ordered large it is

so small I barely got it over my head. Awful

Pam on May 10, 2017:

I purchased zip front bras on the Genie bra 60 days guarantee. The first two bras did not fit so I returned and exchanged them for a larger size. Those bras did not fit either so I returned the bras again for a full refund. They stated that they will refund your money within 2-3 days after return. No, they do not and they have not returned the money after a month. This is a extremely unethical and rip off company.

Pam Forest on May 01, 2017:

Don't waste your time. The fit was poor two times. I sent both orders back and then they gave me a run around about giving a credit on my credit card. It is more trouble and aggravation dealing with them than it is worth.

And, the bras do not fit well at all. At least the ones I bought did not.

Lee on April 30, 2017:

I was gifted them because of bad sizing for the person who ordered. They have pads and are comfortable. I'm in my 50's and would wear them as a sport bra and in my line of labour work. I'm happy with product.

S Alston on February 18, 2017:

I was disappointed because their claim that the size of your top would fit the size of genie bra you should orsder was totally FALSE!

I CALLED THEM ABOUT MY ISSUE and asked to get a truer size. They seemed to want to give me flack about it. Like sending me the RAM Envelope was such a hassle.

I ordered a L, they sent me an XL that was so tight when I wore it that I had to find a fitting room to take it off after my event. It was like I needed a 2X. Money Wasted!

Linda Brown on February 04, 2017:

Genie bras are the most comfortable I have ever found, BUT the band and shoulder straps always start to feel too tight after a few hours. Am still searching for something better.

Michelle on December 05, 2016:

Has anyone tried the Custom genie?

Michelle on November 13, 2016:

I've been waiting 21 days for my order. They keep telling me to be patient. My order is on its way. All I can track is that a label was printed and UPS is waiting for the product. Yet $85 has been taken from my account.

frances on September 10, 2016:

I'm probably a good deal older than you gals, I like my Genie bras. Except the camisole, it gives me a uniboob that isn't comfortable. Otherwise, I wear them every day.

Lee on August 20, 2016:

I bought 3 "cami" bras from the shopping channel in Canada. They are definitely more comfortable than my expensive underwires, but don't have much for lift. I wear them around the house or under hoodies.

S mcgregor on August 04, 2016:

Where can I send it back

Pat Murphy on June 13, 2016:

I ordered 2 beige originals and 2 black origins. I got the beige and the next day got 2 lace trimmed black bras. The lace trimmed are horrible. The lace does not stretch so they are almost impossible to get on and off. I called customer service and was told they don't have nay of the originals left. NONE. Not in black, not in beige, not in blue, not in any color. I was then offered a $10 coupon for future purchase and I could just keep the lace bras. I said no, I want a complete refund with a mailing label so I don't have to pay shipping, and she said she would send it to my email but never did.

fantasia86 on June 12, 2016:

What a rip off. There was a sale on three bra's, so we ordered three. Over a month and no bra. Call and am told that it showed they shipped, butt hey actually hadn't - what does that mean? So they say they will send out replacement. Replacement? You just said you never mailed out the first set. Three weeks later two bra's arrive. Uniboob in front. Straps are about 1" - 1 1/2" too long so not much in support. Is not smooth in back and the band rolls up. Called three more times to get the third bra that we paid for, and 6 months later it still has not arrived. We thought we could at least sell it on ebay.

Wendy on June 05, 2016:

The bra is NOT easy to zip up and is very frustrating. When I do finally get it zipped up the zipper splits from bottom to top. If you can finally get the bra on and zipped it is comfortable. It does not hide the underarm flab at all. It is just a comfortable bra to wear when you are not wanting to impress any one...if you can get it zipped!!!!

e estell on May 09, 2016:

no support for larger busted women wish i could give them back worthless over priced

Kris D. on January 16, 2016:

Not thrilled. Ordered these from a online catalog site and was hoping for something comfortable, supportive and soft with no underwire. Even though I'm a 44B (weird size I know) I really need some lift and shaped cups are usually too big for me. The shipping wasn't bad but when I got them and put them on I was disappointed. The first problem was how snug they were and that they do roll in the front. Having asthma, I don't need anything else constricting my ribcage. Second, they create a major uniboob and being "small" busted doesn't change or help that. I will probably wear these around the house and out just running errands but definitely not to work or church. Can't recommend.

cvs on January 16, 2016:

Poor customer service through the genie bra website. Wrong items are shipped and they expect you to pay shipping and handling (twice) to get the correct item. File a complaint with the Better Business Bureau of Connecticut under Tristar Products, inc. That is the only way we can band together and fight this company from ripping us off. It's not about the money since these are rather inexpensive items, but if we let them get away with stealing even a small amount from us, their unethical behavior will continue for the next customer. I filed my complaint this morning.

Not seeing any comments regarding the issue I had. Just purchased a Genie Bra at my local Walmart. I currently wear an XL, so purchased the 1x bra. Got it home and decided to try it on. Zipped up fine and felt really comfortable ...but the moment I took a breath "POP" ! Zipper splits bottom to top. Struggle to move the slider down to the bottom, zip it up again and once more POP! .. Not sure if this is just a defective zipper, or something that happens quite commonly.

Chris Vaughn on December 11, 2014:

I really like the comfort of the Genie bra.My problem is with the pads. They won't stay in place. It is awful.Makes my boobs look lopsided. You have a good comfortable bra but you need to put gel or Velcro on the pads to keep them in place.

CLewis70 on September 07, 2014:

Absolutely the best and most comfortable bra ever invented. I am a 34D and normally pay $35-40 for Bali or similar brand bras that only act as torture devices, with underwriters cutting in and horribly uncomfortable shoulder straps that scratch and cause indentations after wearing for a few hours. My Aunt bought several of the Genie bras on QVC and was immediately hooked. She sent me one to try, and I never tried it on and just put it in a drawer because I was not really impressed with the looks of it. It wasn't until a couple of days ago that I was asked how I liked it and felt guilty for not at least trying it on, so I pulled it out of the drawer and skeptically put it on and was absolutely amazed at how truly awesome this bra is. I haven't put a regular one since and probably won't in the future. This bra immediately conforms to your shape, there is absolutely zero back fat, it is totally seamless under clothes, provides great support, and is probably the most comfortable thing I have ever worn. I am astounded to hear a single negative comment about this remarkable bra. I just went on line and saw that Bed Bath and Beyond has them in packs of 2 in stock at only $14.99. With one of their $5 or 20% off coupons, that is the best bargain ever! They may not be flashy or a beautiful addition to your seductive lingerie collection, but if you have ever struggled with poorly fitting or uncomfortable bras in the past, the Genie bra is an absolute Godsend! One tip though regarding size....as I said, I am a 34 D, but the perfect size for me in this bra is 1x or CLOSE. Surprising, but best fit ever. I highly recommend!!

Kymbercat on August 25, 2014:

Loved all the comments, & yes it is true, their version of a 'size chart' is bizarre! Maybe it was created with skeletons in mind... not for normal healthy women with 'boobs' who need support, easy to wear all day comfort, anytime of the year. Here in desert heat, a design that you have to 'climb into & pull up" (hum...you should know something is wrong at this point...) material that is nylon & spandex, under elastic that cuts into your ribcage, pushes your boobs together up under your throat & the rest of your surrounding flesh out over the sides, making it hard to put your arms down isn't my idea of a 'good fit' when a normal 38C girl is left panting for air after trying on a MilanaBra in 2x! Pant! HUff! Pant! Maybe I would do better in a 4X, Hey! wait a minute.. who's in charge here? All I want is a camibra that could be cotton/mix, wireless, & doesn't cost a 'arm & a leg' to look like my 'trophies' are covered not smothered & that it didn't escape from a dime store!

Psst! Don't bother mail/Internet ordering, these overrated pieces of junk can be found at your local Walmart! So Ladies give you BoobCrusher's a ride out to where they belong.... the trash!

Thankyou

The bra may be ok for women with small boobs, however I don't recommend it if you are a D Cup or larger. I wear a 38d and size 2x was too small. The size chart is definitely incorrect. According to the chart, my size is Large. I am going to return the bras.

ELANA on April 06, 2014:

I loved the original genie bras which firmed me up - I want less rather than more. I ordered 3 more recently and was very disappointed that the current material is not as firm as before - sure it's comfortable, but they no longer fold me in as well as before. I'll have to start buying firmer sports bras at 3 times the price. Very sad!

Paty on February 04, 2014:

Do Not Buy!!!! Their sizes are way off. I have a large & their about 3 sizes too small. A large should have fit or been too large. Major rip off!!!!!!'

Isabel on November 06, 2013:

Everything that it says SEEM ON TV it is a rip off, that's what I though. I bought my GenieBra in Walmart and I LOVE IT!!! It's really comfortable. I don't have to worry about the strips falling every 30 secs or the spillage. I'm starting to look for more products of this line because I'll replacing all my bras. The only thing is the width is not for using with everything. Next time I'll go to Walmart, I'll get one more box.

Shannon on June 01, 2013:

I'm a 38B. Kinda a weird size. Big rib cage and not so big boobs. I bought this bra in a large. A large- I wear a small or medium shirt. And it is very tight around the bottom- uncomfortably so. And it flattens my boobs, even with the pads. I hate it. I'll use it as a sports bra, but honestly- my underwire padded push-up is more comfortable.

Catherine on April 01, 2013:

Best Bra EVER!!

I would always rip off my old bras in the early evening because of discomfort.

I wear the genie bra all day and evening with NO discomfort at all.

I am 36DD and 57 years old. I get plenty of support with the genie bra and I threw away the little pads because they are totally unnecessary. Smaller girls might want them for extra padding.

The uniboob thing is okay with me because, when dressed, it gives the appearance of a reduced bust size which I prefer.

I have thrown away all of my old bras.

Pamela Lipscomb from Charlotte, North Carolina on October 23, 2012:

You did a great job on this topic. I was one of the suckers who purchased a Genie Bra. They are simply terrible, with no support or definition. I would alone suggest them as a training bra.

TattooKitty from Hawaii on October 23, 2012:

Thanks for the heads-up; I surely won't be buying into this boobie-miracle, as there's nothing I loathe more than the uniboob look (well, except for the Madonna cone-boob look...both are pretty hideous.)

I've always been a big-chested girl, so finding an excellent bra is almost like finding Jesus (bikinis, even worse.) However, after losing weight (thank you, My Fitness Pal!!), I've seen my boobs shrink drastically. I'm still at a large D (or DD, depending on the bra brand), but I'm still not going to risk waiting weeks for a crappy product. Once again, thank you for the great review!!

IzzyM from UK on October 22, 2012:

I'm afraid for that price, I would want a bra make of 22 carat gold thread!

givans1980@yahoo. from Blackwell, OK on October 22, 2012:

Awesome hub! Thank you so much for sharing, and for making me laugh. =) I hadn't even considered these bras until they made their way into my local Wal-Mart check out aisle. But even then, I thought "Eh." Glad I didn't buy one.

Pat Materna from Memphis, Tennessee, USA on October 21, 2012:

I ordered these about 6 months ago. I'm a 44DD. Was concerned with that issue. According to the infomercial and the person on the phone it was guaranteed to fit and change my life. I ordered 2 sets of 3. The 2nd set was free except for S&H. After about 4 weeks got the pkg. What a terrible joke this is. A big scam!!! Immediately called them. They agreed to refund my money less the shipping and I had to pay for return shipping. So it ended up costing me almost $40. Even if I were a smaller size these they would have offered no support and they where difficult to even try to get on your body. I should have checked the out more thoroughly. HUGE, HUGE RIP OFF!!! Good articile!

Ti on October 21, 2012:

All these bras are shown on young women, and/or pre pregnancy. The body shape just changes with time. It would be helpful if everyone commenting would include her size bra.

Patricia on September 30, 2012:

I wanted to buy , but after reading all those comments, i changed my mind

cityalice on June 16, 2012:

Sounds like the take from this review is that the bras are comfortable but don't offer much support. I guess it depends what the woman is looking for, whether they like this bra or not.

harmony155 from Atlanta, Georgia on April 22, 2012:

Check to make sure you purchased the right size. You might find that a smaller size won't roll up.

angela on April 22, 2012:

i bought mine 3 days ago not good as constant roll up at front

harmony155 from Atlanta, Georgia on April 20, 2012:

I've been very pleased with my genie bra purchase. I'm actually shocked by all the negative reviews.

Tina on March 17, 2012:

Thanks so much for the very detailed revuew. I am a size 12 shirt and wear a 36ddd(e), and because I am too large fir Victirias Secret, I usually purchase bras at Lane Bryant due to the cup size - but my size is rarely available and never on the sale rack...my usual bra purchase is in multiples and rather expensive, so I very nearly purchased this product today. Thanks again for saving people like me from spending time and money needlessly.

Sue on March 09, 2012:

This is one of the worse purchases I have ever made. No support at all. The bra is really hard to get on. The bra rolls up. I almost pull a muscle each time I try putting one on. I strongly regret the purchase of these bra's.

Silja Paulus from Bristol, United Kingdom on February 20, 2012:

Does sound like awful delivery time. Where has the world gone to?

Plussizeswimsuits from United States on February 01, 2012:

Thanks so much for your in-depth review.

Marcy Goodfleisch from Planet Earth on January 31, 2012:

I have wondered how one design could serve everyone of us out here in bra-land. Thanks for this really informative review. Well done, in every way. Voted up & useful

Al Hawkes from Cornwall on January 30, 2012:

This is a great review, I almost bought some, but thought I would wait until someone else did before spending money. I won't be buying any after this.

I am going to stay with a good sports bra, plenty of support there and at a cheaper cost too.

Thanks

MariJane on January 19, 2012:

Very comfortable, but you definitely nees the pads otherwise your boobs look like to flat pancakes in a sling.

momofone on January 12, 2012:

I dont see how this bra will make women who have a small B and non full looking boobs feel good about themselves. I just dont see how it will make the boobs look bigger or nicer if you have well.. flatter looking boobs after pregnancy!

elvi rhys on December 17, 2011:

i thought they were to good to be im 46DD and im sooo tired of being poked by my under wires that im getting desprite but im soo happy i looked here if there this bad i wanted to know

maggie on November 14, 2011:

I admit these are comfortable but that’s because there is no support at all. I ordered three of these, tried one on and walked on the beach. I am a 38DD and I was flapping around all over the place. How can you even say they support the larger sizes, I get better support from my ex. These are flimsy and although mine were supposed to be padded they did not come with any padding and am not sure that would have made any difference. I need to know how to return. I was not satisfied with these at all.

Maree on October 22, 2011:

I have a positive comment - If you are less than a D cup you should at least try this bra. Buy a size larger than the chart suggests and get only 1 - on EBAY. If you get the right size for you = they are the best bra ever - the only drawback is that the nylon is not for 100 degree days - too hot!!

Kathy on October 02, 2011:

Bought mine at Bed Bath & Beyond Store 9/15/2011. Came in a box of 2, a nude color and a black. I'm normally a 38C, so got the Large like the chart recommended. 2 for 19.99, but I took that Bed Bath & Beyond coupon for $5 off, so came out to 2/$15 with tax. Great price!

The fit feels wonderful. Yes the band immediately rolls, but I don't care. I'm looking for comfort. Very slight side bulge, no back fat. Feels a bit like an exercise bra, and I can run and fast walk with good support. I had to take pads out because it felt like they pushed me backwards and hurt a bit. Don't need the pads. Weird thing is, when I washed them they have little fuzz balls all over them, "pillage". The bras seem to make me itch a bit. Still trying them out. $7.50 was a great price. Might get some for my sister for Christmas.

KLRomano from Small town OHIO on September 26, 2011:

My mom ordered some and they were too small for her, so I inherited them... nothing thrilling. For a smaller chested woman they do nothing for shape or support, and i totally had the uni-boob. I'll wear them around the house... but agreed, not worth the hype!

delores m mcmannis on September 25, 2011:

i brought the bras and am not please i try it on .and i thought they made me look flat . i wanted a bra that would had some lift . and yes you can see right thew it disappointed. was not worth what i paid for it

SanSan on September 23, 2011:

Just wante to post that I am very happy with this Bra. I am size B or C, and have wonderful lift and looks good under t shirt... Maybe does not work for bigger girls. Anyhow, I tried it without pads and not good at all...

Geri Anderson (author) from Arizona on September 16, 2011:

Thanks to all for your comments. It's obvious that the genie bra is great for some, far from great for others. No one can deny that they are comfortable... and perhaps by now, they've improved on delivery time. Shipping fees are still exorbitant though.

Pat on September 11, 2011:

I LOVE them...going to pitch all of my old bras with the exception of one uncomfortable "perkier" one for special occasions.

ciranoushj on August 24, 2011:

Myself and my husband (a man who likes looking at boobs - who would have thought) were watching the commercial for this "bra" the other night - and we both said pretty much at the same time "no way this going to work". I never buy bras online - just like I don't buy shoes online - these items should be fitted correctly, with the help on an expert. That's my take on it anyway. Thanks for writing this hub and saving some of us girls a bunch of money and time.

Magdelene from Okotoks on August 23, 2011:

Excellent hub, I was going to order this one, the infomercial was very well done and I thought perhaps this is the bra I have been waiting for. But after your investigation I will wait and see if they do an improvement and then perhaps reconsider. Thanks for the info, saved me from wasting my money.

ArockDaNinja from Massachusetts, USA on August 23, 2011:

Well I guess I'm not getting one now! lol

regina s from Sacramento, California on August 22, 2011:

Thank you for this very helpful hub on the Genie bra! I was going to order it...I am a 42 DD and have been searching for the perfect bra for years! I almost ordered one...then I saw the Ahh bra at Walgreens...the Ahh bra has commercials that are almost identical to the Genie bra...same idea...just order your shirt size and no matter what size cup you are...the bra is supposed to fit and lift and separate...I bought the Ahh bra at Walgreens because you could buy one instead of a whole package and it was only $19.99 and no shipping and handling. It doesn't have pads...I do love it...but it doesn't deliver the support of an underwire bra like it claims...but it is really comfortable and I will probably order the package of three...interesting...will anyone really ever come up with something like this that REALLY DELIVERS?

bonnie l. hill on August 20, 2011:

Thanks so much for the info because, like madwummin,I was all set to charge my heart out! Thanks again.

madwummin on August 17, 2011:

thought i had found the holy grail of comfy bras. i actually had my bank card in mysweaty little paws. thank god i looked at the revews. yes girls, im afraid the old adage is true, if it sounds too good to be true..........

Linda Weaver Clarke on August 12, 2011:

$31.97 sure seems like a lot to ship something so lightweight. That alone seems like a rip off. Thanks for the info.

MonetteforJack from Tuckerton, NJ on August 12, 2011:

The genie bra is so complex. It looks uncomfortable and sticky. It is much better to buy bra in person to be sure of the material and the fit, and of course, of the fix price. Am glad you found a teeny-weeny humor in your situation.

Jenny Rose from Northeast USA on August 11, 2011:

thanks so much for such in depth information. I saw this infomercial recently and considered buying the genie bra. I'm not interested in a uni-boob, so you've saved me and others alot of money, which in these economic times is much appreciated. I'm watching my 401K droop, don't need to watch my boobs droop too!!! Thanks
