Review of Fresh ''Cruelty-Free'' Natural Skincare

Author:

I've been an online writer for several years. My articles focus on a wide range of topics, including skin care, fashion and holidays.

Cruelty-Free Beauty

As you all know by now, I never pass up the opportunity to experiment with new cruelty-free skincare products, and my latest trial comes from Fresh. According to their FAQ page, not only do they not agree with testing their products on animals, but they also emphasize developing alternative methods in the hopes that other companies will follow suit.

The only issue I found with their answer was this:

''We do not test our products on animals nor do we permit others to do so except where it is required by law.'' [italics added]

Though I am pleased to read that they invest a lot of money and resources into making what I believe to be essential changes in the beauty industry, I have to say that the answer they provided does concern me. Many companies that are passionate about remaining cruelty-free refuse to open stores or ship to locations where their products would have to undergo animal testing in order to become available on the market. This has me questioning, why doesn't Fresh also take that stance?

Rose Face Mask

After reading countless five-star reviews on their website, I decided to try the Rose Face Mask. The sound of having real rose petals in a face mask sounded like an opportunity I couldn't wait to try. The mask itself feels almost like a gel rather than a typical face mask and due to this, it doesn't take a lot for a full facial application (below I have attached a picture of how the mask looks).

Although it was nicely scented and the results it left were pleasant, I didn't really find anything about this mask that ''wowed'' me or urged me to want to buy it again. The results were less than that of what you receive from a Montagne Jeunesse mask for under £1. For this reason I feel that £52 for 100ml of the Rose Face Mask is not only out of my budget but well over what this mask is worth.

Lotus Youth Preserve Face Cream

Lotus Youth Preserve Face Cream

After removing the disappointingly underwhelming face mask, I continued my routine; only this time, instead of my usual moisturiser, I used the Lotus Youth Preserve Face Cream. Again the product smells nice, and you don't need a lot of product to cover your entire face, but the results were no more than that of an ordinary face cream, and certainly not to the value of £42.

Soy Face Cleanser

By the time I got round to sampling the Soy Face Cleanser, I had already braced myself for disappointment after trying the previous products that were a complete letdown. I have to admit, however, that I was actually quite happy with this one.

Following the instructions, I wet my entire face before applying the cleanser. I found that a pea-sized amount was enough to rid me of the entire day's makeup, including my oh-so-heavy eyeliner and mascara that are usually very stubborn and difficult to remove without a good cleanser.

I would compare this cleanser to Soap and Glory's Peaches and Clean, which has always been my go-to makeup remover as any makeup the product comes into contact with literally melts away leaving your skin smooth, glowing and feeling refreshed.

Fresh's Soy Face Cleanser for me is a redemption product for the previous two and retails for a reasonable £11.50 for a 50ml tube.

Final Thoughts

As excited as I was about trialing Fresh, unfortunately, I don't feel that their skincare collection meets the expectations required of such expensive products and I truly believe that there are a lot of other companies out there that provide higher quality products that are not only priced reasonably but are also able to state whether they are definitely cruelty free or not.

I believe this brand has good intentions, but sadly their products for me don't meet the standard in order for me to consider parting with that amount of money for one item or recommend them to you.

If any of you have shopped with Fresh before, I would love to hear your thoughts and experiences with this company and their products in the comments section below.
